The temperature is continuing to climb, but there are still those of us who want to keep on knitting and crocheting through the heat of summer. What to do? Perhaps a quick, one- or two-skein project in cool cotton – these would make perfect gifts for a loved one … or yourself!

On the Needles at Tangled Yarns

The Lizard Ridge Afghan has been Caroline’s travelling companion – each square makes a great portable project – and the finished result is spectacular, showcasing the multiple colourways of Noro Kureyon in undulating waves.

Caroline used more than 40 balls for this amazing blanket, with the mitred edging alone using 16 balls.

With overseas trips in their futures, both Maureen and Rachel have been working on fabulous hats.

Rachel has finished two hats in Jo Sharp Silkroad DK Tweed – pretty lavender and simple lace in the adorable Slouched Tuva Hat

… and varying widths of ice blue and grey stripes playing together beautifully in Bella’s Hat from Eclipse.

Both of Maureen’s beauties are in our Berocco Ultra Alpaca – a classically elegant Windschief in pale grey…

… and a delightful mix of colours and simple stranding in Fox Point.

The shimmer of silk and subtle sparkle of our Pierrot Julien makes Liz’s Cherries a perfect wrap for glamorous summer evenings out.

Anita borrowed my
Dory shawl last week when she was feeling a bit chilled from the air conditioning and fell in love. Rather than making it a semi-permanent loan, she picked out a couple of colours of Cotton Fleece and made her own version. A quick little project, but a lovely result.

With the increasing heat, I also felt the need for something light to brighten up my summer wardrobe. A Seaside Chic Scarf, crocheted from a single skein of Cascade Ultra Pima, was the perfect choice.

Next Friday 14th November, we will be closed for the G20 Public Holiday, although we will be open again on the weekend.

If you are planning a visit to us over the coming week, remember that there will be road closures and diversions during the entire duration of the G20. Check www.g20.org for the latest information.

Australia Post has also notified us that there may be some mail delays due to the G20.

Also, as we will be enjoying a rare Friday off, there will be no newsletter next week.

With Christmas just around the corner, now is the perfect time to head along to a BrisStyle event and shop handmade…

Saturday November 8 is set to be a fantastic BrisStyle Indie Market at City Hall.

It’s the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with the marketeers: learn about their processes, talk design and treat yourself to all the new seasons must-haves!

Other upcoming events to head along to and get all your handmade gifts –
