Tangled Yarns is moving!

After almost six years here on Chester Street, we feel the time has come for a change. In January, we will be moving to a new store.

We have all felt the increasing pressure on parking, but we have been eager to find just the right home. We are committed to maintaining a bricks-and-mortar presence where our loyal customers can visit to browse and socialise, while continuing to provide a super speedy online service.

Our new store is brand new, bright and roomy, with better customer parking both on-site and on-street. It is centrally located and close to public transport (both train and bus).

We hope that you will come & visit us to help us say goodbye to the Chester Street store, and of course we’d love to welcome you all to our shiny new store early next year.

Our new address will be 13-15 Norman Street, Wooloowin.

we’ll be sharing progress photos as the finishing touches are put on our new home!

If you’re looking for a little something to flick through this weekend, we’ve had a massive shipment of all your favourite magazines arrive during the week.

If you’re struggling to realise your ideal handcrafted Christmas, look no further than issue 47 of Mollie Makes, filled with inspirational gift ideas and seasonal styling tips. Explore metallic accents, discover the appeal of vintage photos and explore monochrome and colour blocking with knitted and crocheted accessories.

This month, The Simple Things explores the wonder of stargazing, real fires, jam tarts and toffee apples, teaches us how to spin a good yarn (of the storytelling variety), and explains why we’ve always loved shoes.

With industrial style all the rage, Reloved shows us how to repurpose salvaged finds and recreate that warehouse chic look. Use crochet to create a stylish lampshade, make last-minute Christmas decorations, and have your way with upcycled wreaths.

Open the pages of Simply Crochet for the perfect presents to crochet for friends and family this Christmas. Festive makes include baubles, fairies, bunting and an adorable amigurumi elf, while the Tunisian crochet shawl would make a perfect treat to pop into your own stocking.

The warmth you feel – in every sense – when you walk through the doors of your favourite pub is the inspiration for Pompom’s winter issue. Sweaters, mitts, hats and a wrap take their place in the snug beside ruminations on the decline of pub culture in the UK, an atmospheric photo journal, and even a recipe for a whiskey-infused tiramisu.

Tangled Yarns’ little elves have been busy whipping up gorgeous handmadegift tags.

Adorned with crocheted Christmas trees, stars, hearts and snowflakes, these would make the perfect finishing touch to any festive parcel.

Kim will have her choice of beautiful scarves when she feels like throwing on a little something light and pretty this summer!

She has just finished two versions of Strathcona, showing its simple lines to advantage in both the natural linen of Pierrot Tours and the dusty pink silk of Julien.

Anita loves to whip up hats when she needs a bit of almost-instant gratification, and her Rhinelander fits the bill perfectly. In steely grey Ultra Alpaca, its combination of texture and cables makes it a great quick stocking stuffer for her husband.

One of our very special friends is expecting a baby in January, so I couldn’t resist picking up my hook to make her a little something for the new bub.

I took my inspiration from Michelle’s bright, happy personality, picking a rainbow of colours from our range of Cascade Ultra Pima for this hexagonal blanket.
