With all the sorting of our stashes and organising our projects over the last few weeks I, like many I am sure, have discovered an abundance of smaller amounts of yarn left over from previous projects.

I like to store them by yarn weight in the hope that I can find a project that will enable me to use them.

One project that would be ideal for using up smaller amounts of contrast yarn would have to be With a Brim by Kelly Brooker.

A skein of a nice neutral offsets stripes of contrasting colours from leftover stash. Even better, the pattern is written is in three yarn weights (fingering, DK & worsted) and in seven sizes (small newborn to large adult).

As many of you know, in addition to our regular Friday Newsletter, we also share snippets of our week via our Facebook page.

We love having a way to interact with our customers and thought that we would share some extra love this week with a little newsletter / Facebook giveaway!

The lovely Kelly Brooker has given us permission to give a lucky Tangled Yarns ‘liker’ not just a copy ofWith a Brim but a copy of the full Two Sides eBook which contains three wonderful patterns – This Side, With a Brim and Double Dip.

To go into the random draw to win the Two Sides eBook and a skein of Berroco Ultra Alpaca Worsted in Winter White (the ultimate ‘neutral base’ for you to create your own With a Brim creation), all we ask is that you join in the fun and ‘like’ our Facebook page or if you already follow us on Facebook, perhaps you could ‘share’ our page.

Once you have done so, please leave a comment letting us know on today’s newsletter post. When we hit the lucky 2000 followers, we will select a winner!

Stitch Pixie Bags

We are thrilled to announce that after a much-deserved break from sewing, our wonderful Peta from Stitch Pixie Bags is back!!

tangledYARNS

In her brief absence, her Stitch Pixie bags have been frequently requested and their absence often missed. We know there are plenty of you who will be glad to see the return of Stitch Pixie’s delicious box bags in two sizes.

However, we are able to thrill you even more with the introduction of theStitch Pixie drawstring pouches, which will hold up to six 100g skeins of worsted weight yarn, and are therefore suitable for larger projects such as baby blankets and adult jumpers.

tangledYARNS

We know that we will never keep up with the huge demand for these beautiful project bags; however we are aiming to have more frequent, smaller deliveries to meet customer demand. Hopefully this means that there is a better balance for Peta, and we can continue to stock our beloved Stitch Pixie Bags.

Brown Sheep

After a few delays and our poor Cotton Fleece shelves looking a little sad for the past couple of weeks, our Brown Sheep shipment has just walked in the door.

Our rainbow of Cotton Fleece is popular year-round for such a wide variety of projects including blankets, homewares and garments.

On the Needles at Tangled Yarns

Recently I was chatting with Kim about a blanket that I had been planning and collecting yarn for over the last few years.

I had made a start but unfortunately other projects always seemed to get bumped up in my queue – samples for the shop, projects for my little people….

Kim was wonderful enough to take my big bundle of yarn home and has, in record time, created my dream blanket!

It instantly makes me smile seeing it on my bed, a happy splash of colour at the end of a busy day.

tangledYARNS

The yarn is a happy selection of colours from our Cotton Fleece collection and the pattern is a hybrid of many different crochet chevron patterns.

I have been busy working away on some new sample projects, testing new potential yarns for the store – lots of exciting things but nothing that I can really share just yet.

With lots of deadlines, I still felt the need for some instant gratification and was keen for something that I could wear on the cooler mornings we’ve been enjoying recently.

Striped Tooth Shawl by Grace Akhrem jumped out at me with its smooshy garter stitch, interesting shape and, of course, stripes!

tangledYARNS

Although the pattern is designed for a fingering weight yarn, I choose to use our luscious Fibre Company Road to China Light, two skeins of the main colour and one of the contrast.
