As the children return to school I find myself trying to regain some order in my life and home….

It seems I am not alone as we have had several emails about how we store our ‘stash’ and ‘WIPs’ (works in progress).

This week Anita and I thought we would share a couple of photos of how we keep our yarn and multiple projects from taking over our homes.

With a mutual love of all things Ikea, we both have different storage systems designed by the Swedish masters of organisation…

To store her stash, Anita has outfitted her studio with a shelving unit similar to this one which she has filled with these baskets.

For WIP storage, a nifty trolley that can follow her from room to room.

I love the simplicity of these shelving units and the pop of colour these storage boxes give my living area.

Of course, we also love to trawl through the fabulous organisational ideas on
Pinterest! There may be several new ideas being implemented in both our lives!

We hope we have given you a few ideas on how to tame your stash & projects.

If you’ve got a storage system that works well for you, we’d love to share your photos next week – either jump onto our Facebook page and post a photo or email them through to tangled@tangledyarns.com.au
and I will share them in next week’s newsletter.

Team Tangled Yarns

With only two weeks to go before the Ravellenic Games begin, we hope you’re all training hard! 😉 Remember, you can pick your project/s and swatch before the Opening Ceremony!!

A little update…

The official Ravellenic Games event list went live during the week, which will allow us to decide which event/s we want to sign up for.

In short, when you tag your project, you will choose one green event and as many purple events as your project qualifies for.

So Anita’s planned Selbu Modern, for example, will be entered in the Hat Halfpipe and also the Nordic Colourwork Combined. A lace shawl would qualify for Short Track Shawls, but also Lace Luge and Single Skein Sprint. If it’s beaded, it could also be entered in the Beaded Biathlon.

The tagging tool is still under construction, so we will have to be patient about adding event tags. But you can still tag your planned project with “ravellenic2014” and “teamty2014” in the meantime. Anita will update the team thread on Ravelry as soon as the tagging tool is up and running!

Our new Knit Pro Blocking Mats and Lace Blocking Kits were certainly a hit,
with many sets making their way to great homes as gifts at the end of last year.

We have just received a shipment to replenish our stock.

Back with some new season colours and ready for heaps more homewares fun!

We have had a small top up of Zpagetti this week, including some bright and fun new colours that I am sure won’t last long…

Keep in mind the colours in this range are forever changing so there will always be something new popping up and we may not be able to order more of the same colour from previous shipments.

With plenty of warm days left before the cool change, we have topped up our exceptionally colourful range of both weights.

On the Needles at Tangled Yarns

We just love it when we get to see the amazing projects our yarns become…

Maureen has two finished projects this week. Ideal for summer, a Crocheted Market Bag by our wonderful Derrin in our Cascade Ultra Pima.

Perfect for those cooler evenings or even just the air-con, Windsong Bolero by Nitza Coto in our Cascade Venezia.

Julia popped in earlier today to share with us the most beautiful gift that she has finished for her brother’s baby boy who is due next week!

The super cute Hungry Caterpillar book has been a family tradition for Julia so she couldn’t go past Caterpillar Lovey by Briana Olsen.

Julia has used our Cascade Ultra Pima in the perfect colours – 3738 Spearmint & 3739 Lime.

Continuing with the theme, she has also worked up a couple of washcloths, first a Leafy Washcloth by Megan Goodacre in our Pierrot Yarns Cotton Neat. And with the leftover Ultra Pima from the lovey, a couple of Spa Day Facecloths by Anne Mancine.

I couldn’t resist making a few little things for my mum’s birthday last week…

From Simply Crochet issue #8, some lavender scented wardrobe sachets in our Cascade Ultra Pima.

Sadly this issue of Simply Crochet is sold out but you could create a very similar project with almost any square motif you like! The white fabric is some lovely linen that I sewed into small squares and filled with dried lavender.

And for starting each day with a smile, some Table Lace Placemats by Coats Design Team in our Willmark Natural 18.

Australia Day Long Weekend

Tangled Yarns will be open on the Sunday of the Australia Day Long Weekend in case you are looking to escape the heat and festivities!

We will however, be closed on the Monday 27th Public Holiday.

Our online store will be open as usual and all online orders will ship when Australia Post re-opens on Tuesday 28th.
