We have been enjoying watching the progress of many Knit A Long projects over the past two weeks. There has been lots of chatter in-store about what to cast on first, yarns, colours, buttons…

As promised – for those of you who prefer to crochet, this week we are adding our selection of patterns for you to hook along!!

You may recall the amazingly beautiful Abuelita that Derrin finished a couple of weeks ago.

I was instantly smitten and think our Pierrot Irish Linen will be the ideal match.

If lace weight yarn is a little too fine, perhaps our second CAL pattern may appeal.

Cather by Mary Beth Temple, matched with one of our most popular summer yarns, Cascade Ultra Pima Fine. With such a wide range of colours it is almost hard to choose just one.

For the little ones we have two sweet options – Stradbroke by Deanne Ramsay or The Marley Halter Top by Naturally Nora.

Stradbroke is just made for our Cascade Ultra Pima but could also look great in one of the many colours of our Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece.

I have a special little person who needs a Marley Halter Top so I will be joining in with CAL with a slightly lighter weight version, also in our Cascade Ultra Pima. If you are not confident working with a lighter yarn than the pattern suggests our Pierrot Cotton Neat would be my suggestion.

Both our Knit A Long and Crochet A Long will run all summer long so you have time for more than one project!

Don’t forget that we have our fantastic prize pack of a selection of our favourite magazines would be ideal….perfect summer holiday reading!

To be in the draw for the prize pack, you simply need to purchase your KAL/CAL yarn from Tangled Yarns and email in a photo of your finished project by Thursday 30th January.
(the winner will be selected randomly & announced in our Friday 31st January newsletter)

We believe ‘the more, the merrier’ and would love for you to join us as we knit and crochet along together, even if you are doing a little stash diving and aren’t eligible to enter the draw.

You don’t need to be a Brisbane local and able to pop into the store to join in the fun! We know that our newsletter reaches many Australia wide and overseas.

We will update with our progress via our Facebook Page and Ravelry Group and would love you to share your projects with us over the coming weeks!

We are thrilled by how much you love our GEMS range of stitch markers and today I am excited to introduce a very special addition…JEWELS!

OurJEWELS markers are all hand made by a very talented jeweller using the highest quality materials.

We have selected high grade brass and copper to create plus a range of stunning beads including Swarovski Crystal. JEWELS markers will vary from one batch to another, sometimes there are significant variations in the beads used. So, much like hand dyed yarns, if you see a colour you love it is best to grab it!

JEWELS are available in sets of 3 markers or sets of 4 markers and include a holder to keep your markers together. We also have some very special single markers. (single JEWELS do not come with a holder)

JEWELS come in both Single End and Double End options. Singles have one size option and Doubles have two size options. e.g. 4mm on one end and 8mm on the other end.

As with many metals, our JEWELS may tarnish after exposure to air and skin. Tarnish is a layer that forms on some metals causing them to lose their shine.

We recommend polishing your JEWELS with a silver polishing cloth(available in most supermarkets) before you begin each project.

Biggan Design

Last night we had a lovely delivery of colour from Biggan Design! It will all make its way to our shelves today, topping them up for the weekend.

I know it may seem a little warm at this time of year for knitting with pure wool but the massive colour palette of colours in both the Biggan DK and Biggan 4ply make it ideal for bright and cheery decorations or home wares.

A Little Note

This week we are expanding our Handmade range with…

A Little Note is a range of handmade cards, featuring crochet & knit motifs.

Just in time for the silly season we have some festive inspired cards.

On The Menu

During the week we posted on Facebook to announce that our wonderful baker has returned from an amazing trip to France.

We are super happy to have her back on deck and delivering the most delicious treats to tempt our tastebuds during our classes and social knitting & crochet.

On The Needles at Tangled Yarns

Maureen was super quick to cast on (and off!) for our Knit A Long, she had possibly been eyeing off the Summer Carnival pattern before we officially launched the KAL.

She has used two skeins of madelinetosh pashmina in graphite that she picked up from us some time ago.

And finished with two perfect buttons!

Maureen has also been working on a stack of soon to be Christmas gifts…these beauties are Bloom Coasters by Ana Contreras in our new Willmark Natural 18, edged with a selection of colours from our Brown Sheep Cotton Fine collection.

We have had some unseasonably cool evenings in the past month so something little to cover up was needed for my two girls.

Now..I know that after 8 Liesl cardis I have been banned from making myself any more but one for each of the girls doesn’t count does it?!

I have used our Cascade Ultra Pima in Poppy Red for the eldest and Pink Rose for the youngest.

To adjust the for the size differences I have knitted them on 4.5mm needles and made the 30inch bust for Miss A and the 34inch bust for Miss J.

Now…if I could just catch them for long enough for some action shots!
