Outside our shop windows the jacarandas have burst into bloom, reminding us that – despite an unusually cold morning this morning – spring is definitely here.

Inside, our new season projects are reflecting the change of season, working up cottons and linens into delicate shawls and lightweight tops in a range of gorgeous colours.

Tangled Yarns will be closed this coming Monday for the Labour Day Public Holiday.

We will be back on deck at 9:30am Tuesday morning. All online orders placed after 2pm this afternoon will be processed and shipped on Tuesday.

However we will be open Saturday and Sunday as normal so you can pop in and stock up on supplies for the long weekend!

Designs By Tangled

I originally designed the Dew Drops Cowl for a yarn club back in 2010 but unfortunately the yarn I designed it with is no longer available.

So we are re-releasing the revised pattern with two versions – a short cowl knitted in our luscious Road to China Light, and a long version perfect for the summer months in Cascade Ultra Pima.

Dew Drops is a great project for beginner knitters who are wanting to expand their skills by learning to knit simple lace or learning to knit in the round. Of course, it’s also a great quick knit for more experienced knitters looking for instant gratification!

October will see the last of our Learn to Knit and Learn to Crochet courses for this year. If you are wanting to pick up a new skill, there are still some spaces left, so give us a call.

Suitable for the absolute beginner, the courses comprise two-hour workshops
run over three weeks and cost $75.

Learn to Knit

19th & 26th October and 2nd November

Learn to Crochet

20th & 27th October and 3rd November

Don’t worry if you can’t make it – there will be plenty of opportunities in the New Year!

Because we know that you are all busy in the lead-up to Christmas, during November and December we will be running a series of 3-hour workshops dedicated to smaller projects.

These projects have been chosen to make ideal Christmas gifts for your loved ones (or yourself!), requiring only a small amount of time for a fabulous result.

On The Needles at Tangled Yarns

Roslyn dropped in this week to show us her Funky Grandpa, knitted in a colourful combination of our Cascade Heritage Silk and Crazy Zauberball.

She is even knitting a matching pair of socks with the left overs!

Maureen couldn’t wait to try out our new Pierrot Neat Cotton and has started a rainbow of washcloths!

The pattern is Easy Peasy Washcloth by Marie Biswell.

Liz was excited to try out our new Pierrot Amian and has whipped up a little Bread Basket in Paris by Drops.

Our Derrin has been on a finishing kick, only allowing herself to cast on a new project when she finishes off a lingering UFO.

This Lacy Baktus is her latest finished project, and isn’t it gorgeous?

Unusually for me, it was this girly shade of pink that caught my eye for this sweet spring cardi that will be perfect over my summer dresses.
