22.03.13

The weather seems to be cooling down finally as we head towards the Easter break.

Our days at Tangled Yarns have been filled with classes, social knitters and lots of people keen to cast on.

The ‘go to’ project of the season seems to be cowls, that little something
to add a splash of colour to your day.

Our Whats on the Needles is packed with amazing projects from many of our wonderful customers & staff, plenty of ideas to inspire you for the holidays!

With Easter only just around the corner I have been looking for something small to make my girls.

I thought I’d share a few of the patterns that caught my eye.

Greyhaven Cowl

Saturday 6 April
12noon – 3pm

Greyhaven from Robin Ulrich….

Ward off the chill with either of Greyhaven’s size options — the cozy, one-skein neckwarmer version, or the luxurious versatility of the slouchy style. Either way, written and charted directions, plentiful photos and helpful tips included in the pattern for newer knitters make Greyhaven an enjoyable knit and a speedy solution for last-minute gifting.

Inspired by the lush imagery of J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series, the design is based on a simple arched, leafy stitch pattern with it’s gracefully sculpted shape worked seamlessly into a lovely layering piece.

The smaller size is easy to tuck into a coat collar, and the slouchy version can be worn many ways including draped simply around the neck, folded over double, pulled up as an impromptu hood or pinned closed, and makes an especially nice gift when presented with a pretty brooch.

Cost

$40.00 per person
{3 hour lesson}
plus supplies

Requirements
Please note that this is an intermediate course.
Prior experience in casting on, knitting & purling is required.

Supplies
