Tomorrow we have three classes – our regular Tech Support Session in morning plus a Continental Class & a bursting at the seams Learn To Crochet (Week one) in the afternoon.

With the weather being reasonably average in Brisbane most of this week we have had plenty of Social Knitters and Crocheters popping in for some time in our lounge area.

More deliveries have arrived and according to the tracking a few more due to make an appearance soon….an exciting start to Autumn!

The classes are designed to teach a variety of different skills to the intermediate knitter.

We are super excited to have several new designers on board with us this year!!
Each of the designers have given Tangled Yarns permission to teach their patterns at our classes.

Turbulence Cowl Class

Turbulence Cowl from Laura Chau….

This fun and funky cowl makes the most of small amounts of yarn.

Short row wedges and stripes combine to form wonderfully sculptural and eye-catching waves, while keeping the knitting fun!

Our class is designed to help you conker knitting in the round, stripes, changing colours and the mysterious ‘short rows’ all in one cowl.

Paper Lanterns Cowl Class

Paper Lanterns Cowl from Sara Gresbach….

Paper Lanterns was inspired by the tradition of making a wish on a floating lantern and sending it downstream or off into the atmosphere. This stitch pattern resembles tiny, candle lit lanterns, carrying your wish off into the universe.

A lace cowl that can be knit with almost any yarn weight.

Simply choose your yarn, choose a length, check your gauge and cast on. The possible combinations are endless and dramatic.

Greyhaven Cowl Class

Greyhave
n fromRobin Ulrich….

Ward off the chill with either of Greyhaven’s size options — the cozy, one-skein neckwarmer version, or the luxurious versatility of the slouchy style. Either way, written and charted directions, plentiful photos and helpful tips included in the pattern for newer knitters make Greyhaven an enjoyable knit and a speedy solution for last-minute gifting.

Inspired by the lush imagery of J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series, the design is based on a simple arched, leafy stitch pattern with it’s gracefully sculpted shape worked seamlessly into a lovely layering piece.

The smaller size is easy to tuck into a coat collar, and the slouchy version can be worn many ways including draped simply around the neck, folded over double, pulled up as an impromptu hood or pinned closed, and makes an especially nice gift when presented with a pretty brooch.

Downton Cowl Class

Downton Cowl from Shannon Cook….

A romantic yet modern lace cowl that’s perfect for showing off that gorgeous hand dyed yarn you’ve been coveting.

The Downton Cowl is a chevron lace cowl inspired by the castle in the tv show Downton Abbey that has a structural & garter like border that mimics & symbolizes the stability of a home – the foundation and the roof. Don’t we all know how up and down life is in between 🙂 After all…where do you think downton abbey get’s all it’s story lines from…lol.

The Downton Cowl uses only (1) skein of yarn, is knit in the round and can easily be made in one evening. It’s a quick project that is both satisfying in it’s design but also fast in it’s execution.

Pattern includes both written instructions and a lace chart and has a gauge of 16 stitches x 25 rows= 4inches/10cm blocked in “lace pattern” flat.

Happy knitting..from my home to yours.
