Welcome to our first newsletter of the new year!

I was overwhelmed by all the lovely emails I received after our final newsletter for 2012 and by just how many of you missed receiving our newsletter last Friday.

The small break from routine was nice but I’m super glad to be easing back into ‘Newsletter mode’ today.

I hope that your festive season was full of family, friends and maybe even a little fibre.
I must admit I have hardly touched a stitch over the holidays, I think my body was telling me that I needed to rest and re-charge.

It is always nice to take a moment to look back at the year that was.

Although at times it felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere with my projects, I did manage to get quite a few projects off the needles.

I had approximately 57 projects finished in 2012 including, 20 cardigans / sweaters / tops, 15 hats, 5 blankets, 9 shawls / scarves / cowls plus a variety of cushions, coasters and decorations…

Did you achieve all that you hoped for last year?
(notice I didn’t count the number of projects I started but not finished in 2012….oops)

Have you been clearing the needles and enjoying that feeling of joy when you finish something or
did you kick off the new year with a nice new project!

Many of our suppliers are taking a well deserved break, some return next week and others not until in mid January.

Rest assured, we have lots of lovely new stock heading our way including some exciting shipments that didn’t quite make it here for December.

2013 will bring new yarns, new brands and new adventures to Tangled Yarns and we are thrilled that you will be along for the ride!

When Derrin was working on this beautiful Entrelac Blanket last year it caused a great deal of buzz…and how could it not! It is simply stunning!!

tangledYARNS
Entrelac, like many knitting techniques looks much trickier than it actually is.

tangledYARNS

During this two hour class you will learn how to knit Entrelac and find out all the tips, hints and tricks.

You will create a small sampler piece that you can turn into a cushion cover, a small pouch
(perhaps for an iPad) or continue knitting to make a wonderful scarf.
(Depending on the number of stitches you cast on)

Please note, you need to have basic knitting skills to attend this course.

Class cost
$30 per person plus supplies

Our Noro yarns were just made for Entrelac…
You will need to select your needle size according to the weight of Noro you choose

Whats on the Needles at Tangled Yarns

One of our adorable customers, Kimley popped in to share some of her finished projects.

In a delightful display of colour….Griffin by Georgie Hallam in our Noro Taiyo.

And another Griffin by Georgie Hallam in our Noro Taiyo, this time for a very special boy.

Kim’s holiday project has been another spectacular blanket. This time she has opted to go with the speed and ease of crochet for some mindless summer colour.

She has used a stunning selection of our Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece.

Kim has based her blanket on Chevron Granny Blanket by Michelle Kludas but has made the chevrons deeper and wider (28 stitches per chevron) and the stripes are based on our favourite Missoni Inspired blankets.
