The final week of the school holidays is almost over….many parents will be sighing with relief come Monday when school starts.

I have loved the lazy mornings at home and the crafty afternoons with my girls.

They have each had some time with me at work, miss 7 in particular has enjoyed working on her knitting and is super keen to give crochet a go.

The shop has been bustling with people popping in to grab gift making supplies, it seems handmade socks are high on the list for many husbands, boyfriends and dads.

Our Cascade sock yarns remain to ‘go to’ sock yarn with their intense colours.

For people a little unsure of where to start two of our Debbie Bliss books – The Knitters Year and Knits to Give have been a wealth of inspiration.

Both books are jam packed full of easy to accomplish projects.

After some more pattern ideas?

The Lonely Tree Shawl by Sylvia Bo Bilvia would look amazing in any of our Berroco Ultra Alpaca colours.

Perhaps something lightweight to go over shoulders on those cooler evenings? Our Cascade Heritage Silk would be ideal for Ripples by yellowcosmo.

Mitts to keep teachers fingers warm are my standard end of year gift and some Cascade Eco Alpaca would hit the spot with Susie Rogers Reading Mitts.

I can see a Amaranth Headband by Adriana Hernandez in several colours of our Cascade Ultra Pima – what great stocking stuffers!

Happy creating this weekend!!

Whats On the Needles at Tangled Yarns

It seems with the warmer weather we have all had our hooks out!

Alice was inspired by one of my Facebook posts last week where I was helping an interstate customer choose some gender neutral colours from our Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece range.

She has a new baby nephew and wanted something reasonably quick to whip up.

A light-weight Cotton Fleece blanket was the ideal project for a Spring baby living in a warm coastal climate.

Alice used our Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in 844 Celery Leaves, 620 Banana, 105 Putty, 100 Cotton Ball, 112 Vintage Linen, 610 Nymph and 135 Slate Charcoal.

Each stripe used approximately 40 grams, the total weight of the blanket being only 280grams.

The blanket is 6 ripples wide – a great pram size.

Derrin has been busy test crocheting for Elena Fedotava.

This is Estonian Waves Top in our Cascade Heritage Silk (5675 – Storm Blue).

Also off the hook for Derrin this week is the most amazing blanket! She has named it ‘Because it makes me happy’ and how could it not with all of theses stunning colours.

Derrin has used 15 different colours of our Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino.

Hopefully Derrin will write the pattern up to share with us soon.

Earlier this week Kim finished her Granny Circle Placemats by Purl Soho in our Cascade Ultra Pima.

These are a wonderful house warming gift for one of Kim’s daughters.

Inspired by the blanket in progress that Derrin shared with me last week and the super summery colours in our Debbie Bliss Eco Cotton I couldn’t help starting a table runner for my dining table.
(it was either that or start yet another blanket!)

Derrin kindly shared her pattern with me, lets call it test crocheting shall we!

The finished table runner has added the perfect spring splash of colour to the dining room.

Inspiring your passion!
