The days are starting to warm up and that gets us all thinking about our Spring / Summer knitting & crochet plans!

If the shops are anything to go by the new season colours are all about brights…..yellows, pinks, oranges.

I have been busy ordering new stock, new yarns & new colours. I’m looking forward to our warmer weather yarns arriving.

Some new season project planning is of course required and a few patterns that have popped up are –

Summer Rose Shawl by Kay Dahlquist (knit)

Granny Circle Placemats by Purl Soho (crochet)

Rustic Basket Weave Table Runner (knit)

Fiesta Table Mat by Linda Permann (crochet)

Simple Luxury Scarf by Anna & Heidi Pickles (knit)

Before I can cast on anything new I am madly trying to finish my winter projects.

Perhaps it is a good thing that August is providing us with some cold and windy weather to finish of the season.

The first part of our current Malabrigo order has arrived!

We have new stock and new colours of the delightfully squishy Rasta.

On the Needles at Tangled Yarns

Last Saturday those of you who follow us on our Facebook Page would have seen me post about a little mini impromptu Knit A Long that was happening on our lounge!

Our lovely Lauren and Amanda both happened to be knitting Marin by Ysolda Teague in some of our madelinetosh yarns.

Lauren is using our madelinetosh Tosh Sock in Tart and Amanda our madelinetosh Pashmina in Jade.

(we have some new madelinetosh yarns in being dyed at the moment – watch out in our upcoming newsletters for their arrival!)

Lauren also brought in some other ‘show & share’! This is a Capucine by Adela Illichmanova for her husband. The yarns are our Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky and Noro Taiyo.

Another project off the needles for Lauren is a Different Lines by Veera Valimaki in Malabrigo Sock.

Earlier today I had a lovely visit from our Miss Lauren and her mum.

They popped in to pick up some supplies to finish off a few projects…including this amazing Granny Squares blanket in our Noro Taiyo!

We had heaps of fun laying the squares out over a coffee, only one to go and it can be put together.

Kim has has some last minute knitting to whip up this week.

These are a pair of adorable little Mini Mitts by Jessi Koontz in our Malabrigo Rios.

They are destined for one of her little granddaughters and I’m sure will be a huge hit!

After a final push to finish my mums Vodka Lemonade by Thea Colman in our Jo Sharp Silkroad DK Tweed is off the needles this week!

I have washed and blocked it so it is all ready to go for their upcoming trip away.

The Jo Sharp Silkroad DK Tweed was divine to knit with but as always the wash in SOAK and blocking has created the most divine, soft & drapey fabric.

These square shell buttons from mums stash are just perfect!

I made some mods to the pattern, mainly adding a couple of stitches to the front bands to accommodate buttons as mum wanted to be able to do the cardi up.

With this in mind I also added some shaping about an inch after separating the sleeves and some waist shaping. I also added length to the body and sleeves.

Another cardi off my needles this week is my Drifting by Cecily Glowik MacDonald in Cascade Heritage Silk.

I started this towards the end of last summer before being distracted by the yummy new winter yarns.

With the new season not far away I have picked it up and finished it off this week.

This will be perfect over all of my summer dresses, I’m tempted to knit another in something else equally bright.
