How gorgeous are the days at the moment!!

Our evenings and mornings have certainly been very fresh but there is nothing better than beautiful blue skies and sunny Queensland days.

The warmer days of course get me thinking about Spring & Summer knitting.

I have been busy this week placing what will most likely be our final Winter orders and planning our first Summer orders. New yarns, new colours…..lots of exciting pretties on the horizon!

To make room for all of the yarn and the change of season we have been rearranging the shop a little. I love nothing more than seeing my shelves full of stunning yarns, arranged by colour.

Are you like me and madly trying to finish your Winter projects before casting on some Spring knitting?

Our third and final button order has arrived for the month.

This shipment included my favourite metal, coconut and timber buttons….

A top up of our super popular winter Cascade yarns arrived earlier this week.

We have new stock and several new colours in our Cascade Heritage Sock & Cascade Heritage Sock Paints, Cascade 128 Superwash Chunky and Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky plus 10 new colours of our always popular Cascade 220 Worsted!!

Debbie Bliss

Another couple of new books from Debbie Bliss this week!

Baby Cashmerino Four

This collection includes knits for older children in response to those knitters who asked for slightly larger sizes and is bursting with brighter colours such citrus yellow, burnt orange and vibrant pinks in contrast against charcoal and chocolate shades.

Simply Crochet

This collection is the first venture into the world of Crochet for Debbie Bliss.

She wanted to create stylish garments that would engage seasoned crochet workers as well as knitters who have been intrigues by its possibilities but needed fairly simple patterns to begin with.

To tempt the novice into the craft there is the simplest of scarves, delicate collars, a knitted sweater with a crochet yoke and also projects that take the skill level furhers such as the Darcey dress.

The inspiration behind the collection is the 1960s, a time when crochet first graced the catwalks and Jane Birkin, the Paris based English actress epitomised the look of the era.

A top up of our Debbie Bliss yarns has hit the shelves including some stunning colours in Baby Cashmerino, Cashmerino Aran and Angel.

Kim and I both fell in love with the Mustard in our new Cascade Heritage Sock when it first arrived.

It took a little while for Kim to settle on just the right pattern to compliment the stunning colour but after a few false starts she has settled on Trillian by Martina Behm

This week most of my other projects have taken a backseat to some quick Birthday gift knitting.

My eldest little one has a friend who has been smitten by all of our blankets at the shop.

How could I not make a special 6th Birthday Blanket!

The only catch is that I was waiting on our Cascade order for some new colours so this blanket was churned out over the past two nights….ouch! My hands are a tad sore now and will need a much deserved rest this weekend.

The finished Rainbow Blanket is so worth it – makes me smile just looking at it.

The pattern that I used was Granny Stripes by Lucy of Attic24 and the yarn is our Cascade 128 Superwash Chunky.

The finished blanket is 38inches x 45inches and took one skein of each of the 8 colours and 2 of the last colour that was also used for the border. (a total of 10 skeins)

(1948-Mystic Purple, 1960-Pacific, 1964-Cerise, 1983-Peacock, 820-Lemon, 822-Pumpkin, 864-Christmas Green, 893-Ruby and 817-Ecru)

Inspiring your passion!
