It is hard to believe that it is the first day of June, where has the year gone?

We have finished off Autumn with a flurry of deliveries again this week. The shop has been splashed with new colours and new projects.

Again this week our classes have been full of keen students enjoying their newfound skills.

We have just launched our July & August class calendar with two new intermediate classes, full details can be found further on in the newsletter.

Of course we have our regular Technical Support Classes for the majority of your knitting & crochet queries and with the demand for our Learn To Classes not slowing we have several options available for our new knitters and crocheters.

Happy Winter everyone!

Another shipment of our much loved and colourful Noro has arrived!

New stock of all weights has hit the shelves (plus a few new colours!!) and is already moving fast – Noro Silk Garden Sock, Noro Silk Garden Lite, Noro Silk Garden & Noro Taiyo.

A couple of our favourite colours have been back ordered so we will be re-ordering again next week to replenish the disappearing stock and the missing colours.

My Granny Blanket has been warming laps in the lounge all week and has inspired many to pick up the crochet hook to create their own.

POP! Blanket Class

When I saw this new blanket pop up on Ravelry a few weeks ago I fell in love!
(excuse the pun!!)

How could I not cast on since we have both the Noro Kureyon and Cascade Yarns Eco Wool in stock….

POP Blanket has some very clever techniques ranging from a pinhole cast on, knitting in the round on double point needles or magic loop and then using short rows to shape the corners.

Putting the blanket together can be done by crocheting the squares together or seaming them together.

The wonderful designers from Tin Can Knits have given us permission to base a class on their fantastic pattern!

*please note – all patterns are to be purchased from Tin Can Knits via Ravelry prior to the class.

From the designer –

This blanket is inspired by the bright, exciting and high-contrast graphics of comic books and Pop Art, and my love of polka dots in general. Mmmmmm…. who doesn’t love a good polka dot?!

I simply adore knitting with Noro: the joy and satisfaction of seeing what colour will come next never fails to please me.

If you would like to learn how to make your own POP Blanket and perfect all of these wonderful and very useful techniques join our class!!

Requirements – Please note that this is an intermediate course.

Prior knowledge of how to cast on, knit, purl and cast off is required.

POP Blanket pattern from Tin Can Knits on Ravelry.

Your blanket can be made any size desired.

When made to the gauge suggested the squares measure approximately 6.25″ square.

The sample blanket is baby blanket size, it measures 26″ x 32.5″ and is made up of 20 squares.

1 Square takes approximately 15 yards of Noro Kureyon and 20 yards of Cascade Yarns Eco Wool.

Noro Kureyon has 110 yards per 50 gram ball so each ball will yield approximately 7 circle centres. Cascade Yarns Eco Wool has 478 yards per 250g skein so each skein will yield approximately 23 squares.

Needles required are 5.5mm double points and/or circular needles as desired for knitting in the round.

We have plenty of lovely colours of Noro Kureyon and Cascade Yarns Eco Wool in stock however they are both very popular yarns and can move quickly.

To avoid disappointment we suggest purchasing your yarn for the classes well prior to your first lesson. We are also happy to custom order in specific colours and quantities for your blanket prior to the classes.

Please contact us in store or tangled@tangledyarns.com.au to arrange a custom order.

The lovelry Rachel called in to share with me a beautiful finished cowl she had finished.

The pattern is Cocoon Me Cowl by Rose Beck and yarn is our Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran.

Anita whipped up in next to no time a sweet baby shower gift.

This is Baby Kina by Muriela in our Cascade 220 Superwash Sport.

Finished with a few of our adorable little ladybug buttons.

Still on her accessories kick, Derrin finished a wonderful Line Break by Veera Valimaki.

So, so pretty!

I have been trying to resist casting on anything new…..

Of course I had to start a POP Blanket, purely for research purposes and a shop sample! I was curious to see how the pattern was constructed and let me tell you…those little squares are addictive!

Although they will need blocking before I can put them together.

A quick visit to the store on Sunday for a coffee ended up with a spur of the moment purchase of some Cascade 128 Superwash Chunky that became Watercolour Ponies Poncho / Shirt by Melissa Schaschwary. (thanks for the inspiration Amanda!!)

This was a super quick and simple project that has resulted in an easy to wear garment. I opted to join the sleeves to make it more of a top.

When a new little baby boy joined my cousins family I had the perfect excuse to cast on Beyond Puerperium by Kelly Brooker in our Cascade 220 Superwash Sport.

I must.not.cast.on…anything this weekend!!!

Made by Megan

Our Raspberry & Pistachio Friands will be perfect with a hot coffee or tea this weekend!

Our social groups on Wednesday, Thursday evening and Saturday are such a lovely way to spend a few hours with like minded knitters & crocheters in a warm and inspiring environment.

Hope we see you in store soon!
