Colourwork Workshop
with Biggan Dupps

This weekend Biggan Dups from Biggan Design is joining us in-store for the first of our new Colourwork Workshops!

The pattern featured this year is Color Me Pretty Hat
by Elana Nodel

From Elena

‘Color Me Pretty’ hat is my third design in the series of the bright and fun Fair Isle garments that I have been making for my daughter Maya.

The colorwork is simple enough for a beginner, yet interesting enough for a seasoned knitter as well. The hat is worked entirely in the round from the bottom up.

The Fair Isle design lends itself to many possibilities of various color combinations; my version is just one of them. You can work with as little as one contrast color or with as many as you would like.

Small (toddler) – 18-19″
Medium (child – teen) – 20-22″
Large (adult) – 21-23″

MC: 90, 110, 140 yards;
CC: 40, 50, 60 yards;

Over the two days, you will learn how to do stranded colourwork while creating a Color Me Pretty Hat.

Participants are to purchase the Color Me Pretty Hat directly from Elena via Ravelry prior to the workshop.

Saturday 31st March & Sunday 1st April
(Saturday 11am – 3pm, Sunday 11am – 2pm)

Saturday 21st April & 22nd April
(Saturday 11am – 3pm, Sunday 11am – 2pm)

$170.00 per person (2 day workshop) plus supplies

(morning tea and a light lunch is included on both days)

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required upon booking

Please note that this is an intermediate course

Prior knowledge of how to knit in the round comfortably is required
(Double Point Needles, Magic Loop or Two Circular methods)

Pattern (to be purchased directly from Ravelry prior to the workshop)

Approx 100g of DK / 8ply Biggan DK Merino (minimum of two colours)

3.0mm, 3.5mm & 4.00mm 40cm circular needles plus 4.00mm needles for your preferred method of knitting small diameter knitting (e.g. double point needles or magic loop) and a wool darning needle

This is the newly released

Lauren recently finished off a gift for her younger sister.

AHeather Hoodie Vest by Debbie O’Neill in Cascade Eco Wool.

Love all those cables!

My mum has a new project on the go, her first time cabling.

This is a four stitch cabled scarf in our Jo Sharp Alpaca Silk Georgette.

This week our wonderful Kim had a birthday and I surprised her with some sneaky knitting that I had been working on last week.

This is a Zuzu Petals by Carina Spencer in our MadelineTosh Pashmina!

With the days cooling down I thought I had better cast on miss 6’s school cardi. I gave her the choice of several patterns and she picked the lovelyJane by Georgie Hallam.

I am using our Biggan Design DK Merino.

The lure of the new colours in our Noro Silk Garden got the better of me this week….

Especially after seeing the wonderful finished project in our Ravelry group. Chrissy recently finished a lovely Taiyo version of the One-Ball Ripple Scarf by Coasts & Clark (crochet).

I look forward to adding a splash of colour to my winter grey and blacks.

After a little nudging by a few Tech Support students and a certain TS Teacher I caved and last night I cast on Colour Affection by Veera Valimaki in our Cascade Heritage Silk.

How could I resist when they hand selected the colours for me and placed them on my desk!

They know me too well…..
