Friday Favourites

The month is flying by and the count down to Christmas has begun!

We have had plenty of organised customers dropping in to pick up gift vouchers, yarn, needle sets, ball winders, swifts and other accessories to pop under the tree for a loved one.

Our Envirosax bags have been so popular that we almost ran out last week. It is great to see so many people using them as eco friendly gift wrap!

Envirosax has brought out some beautiful new bag styles, just in time for Christmas!

They are just perfect for brightening up the weekly grocery shop but they also have many other uses including school library bags, swim bags, overnight bags and of course project bags for those larger projects like blankets!

I have topped up our stock with favourites plus some of the new designs and to celebrate our Envirosax range is our Friday Favourite.

Stock up now for those last minute stocking stuffers.

Stitches on needles and yarn on hooks

Bright cotton colours and new pattern books

Tangled Yarns bundles tied up with strings

These are a few of my favourite things!

Friday Favourite Conditions – Applies to in stock items only. No custom orders or lay-by. 10% Off does not apply to kits as they are already reduced. Special prices apply from launch of newsletter until 9am Monday.

Knit A Long

A few gift suggestions for the little ones this week.

I love creating things for my girls that encourage them to use their imagination
and these play based gifts are just the sweetest…

For fairy tale play –

Child’s Play Crown by Julie Hunter in Cascade 220

Pirate Patch by Valerie Whitten in Debbie Bliss Eco Cotton

Fairy Rose Ring by Kristi Lea in Biggan Design 4ply Merino

Next week we will be back with ideas to stock your play kitchens!

Stitch Pixie

Peta, our creative mind behind the stunning Stitch Pixie bags has been working hard to get us some more project bags before Christmas!

We have new stock in both the small and large sized bags plus some new prints.

The small bags are 5 inches high x 5 inches wide and 6 inches long. These are ideal for socks, hats, children’s projects or light weight adult garments – you’d be surprised how much will actually fit in there!

The large bags are 5 inches high x 5 inches wide and 11.5 inches long. They are suited for projects using straight needles or larger projects.

This is our last delivery from Peta before Christmas, so best get in quick!

We’ve received a top up of our KnitPro range, including some new sock blockers!

Fabulous for blocking lace patterned socks and displaying your pretty socks in general, these will make a great gift for Christmas.

We also have new stock of our interchangeable needle sets, tips and cables.

We have yet more new colours in our
Cascade Ultra Pima range this week, along with a replenishment of our popular colours.

I keep finding more and more things to make with this beautiful yarn… it’s hard to pick what to start first!

Spring Shell by Simona Merchant-Dest

Green Gable by Rachel Bishop

Uhura by Connie Chang Chinchio

We’ve received more stock of our Addi needle range earlier this week including more of our fixed circular needles – from 30cm lengths all the way up to 100cm.

Biggan Design

After a very popular Friday Favourite last week, we will be receiving a much needed top up of our Biggan Design DK Merino over the weekend.

The versatility of this yarn is amazing and as it is simple to pop in the washing machine for cleaning a great choice for baby and children’s wear.

Little Butterflies by Georgie Hallam

Stacked Eyelet Cowl by Ami Madison

Fable Fingerless Mitts by Sian Parker

Dyeing Workshops

I held the final Dyeing Workshop for the year last Sunday and it was so enjoyable to watch the transformation of plain yarn to beautifully coloured yarn!

Two of my previous students from an Intermediate class I held a few weeks ago have brought back their finished projects to share!

In the class they dyed up 8 mini skeins of 4ply merino to be used for a Dipped Infinity Cowl by Laure Chau.

We are hoping to be able to fit more dyeing workshops into our calendar early next year, keep an eye out in the coming newsletters for details.

We are continuing our ever popular Technical Support classes on Tuesday afternoons, Thursday mornings, Thursday evenings and Saturdays right up until Christmas for all those last minute crafting needs.

Please make sure you phone the store to book in so you don’t miss out!

Thank you to everyone who has sent in feedback for what you would like to see in our classes in 2012. We will endeavour to accommodate as many suggestions as possible – it’s not too late to let us know! You can find our December, January and February calendar here.

We already have students booking into our Learn to Knit class beginning Thursday 14th January from 6-8pm. Maybe someone you know has made it their new year’s resolution to learn to knit? Now is their chance!

Bookings are required for all of our classes – please contact the store on 07 3666 0276 or email tangled@tangledyarns.com.au to enquire or book in!

On the Needles at Tangled Yarns

Last weekend I had a customer come in with the most beautiful African Flower Blanket made from our Biggan Design DK Merino.

There are absolutely no words to describe this gorgeous piece of work! I could see this as a wall hanging – utterly stunning.

It seems there is a lot of blanket love about with two other wonderful customers returning with blankets they are working on.

First up – a Hexagon Blanket in our Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece.

And a Sunny Spread by Ellen Gormley, again in our Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece.

Derrin and Alice have had a little Cable Braided Necklace Knit-A-Long this past week – Derrin has made hers in our Debbie Bliss Andes and Alice has made hers as a gift for a friend in our Cascade Ultra Pima.

It is amazing how two different yarns can give the same pattern a completely different look!

With our unseasonably cold weather this week Derrin has been busy with some Noro Silk Garden, making a set of Two Needle Slippers by Dagny Lilley.

Very quick to work up, these would make a great stocking stuffer!

Unable to resist the lure of new colours in our Cascade Ultra Pima I cast on a second Miette by Andi Satterlund, this time in Poppy Red.

I’m sure it will get plenty of wear over the festive season.

This time I went down a needle size to 4.5mm and up a pattern size to compensate for the gauge difference.

I also added the button bands so that I could use some of our new super cute buttons.

My other project this week was another Cascade Ultra Pima cardi but I have a feeling it is going to be ripped.

I am not happy with how the lace panel on the back is not symmetrical so my Waterlily Ultra Pima is destined to become something else.
