Friday Favourites
I am super excited about our plans for spring & summer this year! We have so many new, divine yarns ideal for warmer weather knitting on the way….To make room for our new stock we need to move the last of our current cottons. There will be new stock of our eco friendly Debbie Bliss Eco range arriving shortly but now is a great time to grab a few balls while they are our Friday Favourite.Looking for some project ideas?

We now have 10 colours of the eco buttery softness in stock!

Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece

More Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece poured into the shop this week. With the few warmer days recently we have found that people are starting to plan their first spring knits and are loving the vibrant colours available in Cotton Fleece, not to mention how beautifully it knits and crochets up.

I have several plans for some summer cardis in Cotton Fleece, my only dilemma is choosing a colour!

Berroco Booklets

We have also just replenished our range of Berroco Booklets.

Comfort Knitting & Crocheting Afghan Book

Along with our range of Berroco yarns and booklets we received more stock of the
Berroco Comfort Knitting & Crocheting Afghan

This book has so many beautiful patterns and with an even representation of both knitting and crocheting patterns. The stunning patterns may even inspire someone who knits but doesn’t crochet to pick up a hook!

We received new stock of our two most popular bags in the Namaste range this week – the Monroe and Zuma bags.

I love the roominess of the Zuma, it may look small on the outside but you’d be surprised on how much you can fit inside! And with no zips to catch on your knitting, it’s the perfect bag for your projects.

The Monroe bag is fabulous for keeping your life organised with three different sections in the bag – it even fits a 15″ laptop!

We also received more stock of our Buddy Cases and Oh Snap Pouches.

More buttons have arrived this week this time new stock of our metal buttons.

Here are a few of my favourites…

I do have a soft spot for buttons – changing buttons it is an easy way to give a garment a fresh new look.

We have already started to take bookings for our Learn to Crochet class

Other popular classes coming up that still have a few spaces are –

Learn to Knit Thursday 6pm – 8pm (3 lessons starting 1st September)

Learn to Knit Sunday 11pm – 1pm (3 lessons starting 4th September)

Not only are our lessons educational but they are also heaps of fun!

All classes are $25.00 per two hour lesson. A full class calendar for August & September can be found here.

With all of our classes, bookings are essential as we do have several classes that are completely booked out.

Please call the store on 07 3666 0276 or email tangled@tangledyarns.com.au if you have any questions or would like to book in!

On the Needles at Tangled Yarns

I have been fighting off a cold for the past week and the extent of my knitting has been snuggling under my Umaro blanket and churning out a few rows. There have been moments where I wondered why I cast on so many extra repeats but I know that when I am finished it I will love the size.

With the warmer weather I have also picked up my Hexagon Blanket in our Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece….I started with 17 colours but with the new colours that we have added to our range over the past few months I think I am now up to 20!

With so many colours you would think that picking on at random would be easy but I am finding that is what is taking so long. To combat this and because the first round of each hexagon is so fiddly I have started making a pile of centres….production line crochet here I come!

My only other project this week has been to finish off a couple of Birdies by Attic 24 for our spring tree in our front window.

Aren’t they just the sweetest!!

Lauren is so close to finishing her Miette by Andi Satterlund. She was picking up the buttonband this morning and was deciding on which buttons to choose from.

All of them look very sweet and each gives the cardigan a different look but she’s leaning towards the two-hole metal ones.

The oxidised metal ties in with the colour of the Malabrigo Rios and doesn’t overpower the lace.

Hopefully there will be a finished project next week!

Derrin has been working on her
African Flowers Blanket by Lounette Fourie & Anita Rossouw. She was inspired by the beautiful jacaranda trees that flower in October and November.

She is using our
Biggan Design DK Merino – with so many colour combinations and the machine washability the soft merino is a perfect match!

Derrin finished another project this week – Sonia’s Shawl by Joëlle Niang with the Noro Silk Garden Sock and Jo Sharp Alpaca Silk Georgette.

The lovely cool colour of the Alpaca Silk Georgette tones the intensity of the Silk Garden Sock down and with all that silk in both yarns, the shawl drapes just beautifully.

Kim also has a finished project this week, a spectacular Seas Shawl by Suzy Crancer.

She was so eager to get it blocked after she finished it that she just had to get up super early to spend some extra time making sure it was pinned just right.

Made by Megan

This week our wonderful Megan has baked her Blueberry Boy Bait and Devils Food Chocolate Cupcakes…..

As our locals would know the Royal Queensland Show (or as most of us know it the ‘Ekka’) started yesterday and will continue though until 20th

Next Wednesday 17th August is People’s Day, the official Royal Queensland Show public holiday.

Tangled Yarns will be closed on Wednesday, our online store however will remain open and all online orders placed over the public holiday will be shipped once Australia Post re-opens on Thursday morning.

Inspiring your passion!
