Shop Day 06.08.11

Phew!

Another busy day in the shop today, lots of lovely customers popping in for a quick yarn fix or to stay a little longer and enjoy a coffee & some of the delicious treats.

I can highly recommend the Pecan Chocolate Brownies, just the sugar hit that I needed this afternoon with a hot cup of tea.

I managed to squeeze in a little time catching up with everyone who was enjoying a spot of social knitting in the lounge area, checking out some finished projects, latest wips and what will be next on the needles. Both Lauren and Kim popped in for some knitting and a little shopping….I love that they enjoy spending some of their free time back at work! xx

Plus we had two sessions of classes today!

This morning was Technical Support with Anita and what a wonderful group of students and wide variety of projects! (doesn’t Anita’s freshly finished Daffodil in Cascade Eco Alpaca look great!?)

From a first time continental knitting student, a Jo Sharp Ribbed Scarf from Knit Issue 7 in soft sage greens (Soho Cotton and Silkroad DK Tweed), some technical advice on a lovely sweater in Berroco Ultra Alpaca Light (purling through the back of the stitch), an avid crocheter coming over to the other side and casting on our Missoni Inspired Chevron Blanket in our bright and cheery selection of Biggan Design DK Merino and a mother & daughter each casting on their own Moderne Log Cabin Blankets in Biggan Design DK Merino.

This afternoon was the final lesson for our current Learn to Knit class with Derrin. (you might spy Derrin wearing a fresh off the needles shawl….we will reveal all of the details on Friday after I have nabbed it for a little photo session!)

Such a buzz to see enthusiastic new knitters progress! From learning to cast on and the knit stitch at their first lesson, then learning the purl stitch and some basic increasing, decreasing and casting off….to their final lesson and starting their first projects!!

Not only were they casting on new projects today but they were already excitedly planning their next projects.

Although they ‘graduated’ from Learn To Knit this week I hope we see them back in store soon joining in on our couch with the rest our social knitters!

Tomorrow will be another busy day with a new series of Learn To Crochet starting with Derrin.

I may pop for a Sunday morning coffee and to check out the new batch of keen students…
