|Blanket Knit A Long
After a small extension our Winter Warming Blanket Knit-A-Long sadly must come to an end. It has been lovely to see so many beautiful blankets progress and it has been difficult for me not to cast on yet another blanket!
I have been working away on several of my blankets, making slow progress but getting there…
|Cable Knit A Long
With the end of May also comes the end of our Cable Knit-A-Long. We’ve had many participants creating beautiful cabled projects – it’s a great technique to add an extra feature to a project.
Our Random Number Generator has picked Gail Saul as our winner! Congratulations! Please send me an email so we can arrange your gift voucher.
|June Knit A Long
Hand knit socks are a must at this time of year! No only do they keep your feet toasty and warm they are such a great way to try many different techniques in one small project – knitting in the round, short rows, grafting… and that’s even before you add lace or cables into it the mix.
These are an early pair of my socks, the pattern is Monkey by Cookie A (one of my favourite sock designers) and they yarn is my hand dyed sock set (variegated + trim of semi solid for cuff, heels & toes)
Our Knit-A-Long this month is socks – from knee high to anklet, ribbed to lace, baby to Big Foot… anything goes!
We love to see as many people as possible join our knit a longs, even it if is with other yarn and you are not eligible for the draw we enjoy the sharing of pattern planning, the knitting experience and of course the excitement of finishing something!
To enter our KAL draw, all you need to do is finish and photograph a finished pair of socks
You will go into the draw to win your purchase amount back as a gift voucher (up to $50.00).
We have two Learn to Knit Socks series in June to support our KAL – one starts tomorrow, Saturday 4th June from 1-3pm and continues for the following two weeks (11th and 18th) and one starting Thursday 16th June from 6-8pm and continues for the following two Thursday evenings (23rd and 30th).
These classes are intermediate classes, with the prior knowledge of knowing how to knit in the round comfortably required. We have a few spaces left in both tomorrow and Thursday 16th’s class so if you would like to learn how to create your own socks, now’s your chance!
To compliment our KAL this month, I’ve brought in a new range of sock yarn that looks and feels absolutely stunning!
Ella Rae Lace Merino is a light fingering/3ply pure merino that is perfect for that special pair of socks, stunning shawl or a lightweight garment.
I’m so taken by the vibrancy of the colours! They look amazing….

|On the Needles at Tangled Yarns
Some of you might have seen a post from Lauren on our Facebook Page earlier in the week with a lonely little bunny hat. A set of very tiny triplets have been born to her husband’s workmate and Lauren couldn’t help but create something cute to keep their little heads warm.
A finished project from me this week! I started a Liesl by Ysolda Teague for my mum earlier in the year after I finished mine and we both seemed to be reaching for it at the same time.
The yarn is my TY Bulky Merino in Bougainvillea, aren’t the buttons just the perfect match!
Also this week I cast on Rose Red by Ysolda Teague in our new and divinely soft Debbie Bliss Andes….absolute heaven!
I love to see so many new knitters at this time of year!
We regularly have people come in for the first time who are keen to pick up the needles in the first time in years but are daunted by they challenge.
We reassure them with our Technical Support Classes.
Technical Support is a student driven class where you receive support in reading patterns, creating cables or lace, working in the round – whatever is stumping you! Bring along your current project and our teachers will help you work through any concerns or queries you might have.
All of our standard classes are $25 per two hour lesson.
We are always happy to answer simple questions in-store or via email if there is something we can help with. All of our staff are experienced knitters and/or crocheters with a vast collective wealth of knowledge.
Depending on the level of difficulty, length of time required and how busy we are with other customers we may possibly direct you to one of our classes.Recently I had one of our wonderful regular customers ask if she could book some ‘Question Time’ with me. With this in mind I thought I would revive our Short & Sweet lessons.
These lessons are 45 minutes, one on one with myself and are designed to help with questions you may have that don’t require a full two hours.
S&S classes are $15 / 45minutes and bookings are required and time are available between 10am – 1pm Monday – Wednesday.
Please phone the store on 3666 0276 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book.

|Ravelry Security Breach|
If you are not regular Ravelry users and only read our group, you might have missed that Ravelry experienced a security breach this morning (our time).
This means that hackers got into Ravelry’s database and extracted the usernames and passwords to the accounts.
Ravelry is advising that you change your password on Ravelry ASAP and if you use your username on any other websites, to change your passwords on those accounts too.
