Friday Favourites

With Mother’s Day just around the corner I wanted to share some last minute inspiration.

I love the luscious softness of Noro Cash
Iroha and am a little devastated that Noro have discontinued the
line. We have a few stunning colours left in stock and once this is
gone thats it!

These are just a few pattern ideas that would
be spectacular paired with Cash Iroha, with its silk and cashmere
content it is ideal for wearing close to the skin.

Interweave KnitScene

Although this is going into the wrong season for us there are still plenty of
projects ideal for our Australia autumn! With a focus on construction
and colour this issue is full of techniques, methods and 26 new projects.

In its first ever summer issue, Knitscene explores plant fibers, quick and unusual accessories, and great
layering garments. Who says people don’t knit in the summertime?
This is a dynamic time of year, characterized by long days, sun-lit
activities, and wild color. We travel, we find time to relax, we
spend time in air-conditioning and along the rims of volcanoes.

Knitting fits so well into summertime–it’s easy to pack;
it makes plane and car rides fly by; it fills the idle hours waiting
on a picnic blanket for fireworks; it’s the very relaxation we
seek. Summer knits don’t need to stand shyly by while fall knitting
looms like the year’s main event. In that vein, this issue is
brimming with fabulous must-have knits and need-to-know technical

Every page is inspiring and lively, while the knitting
itself is simple and fun.

April Lace Knit A Long

I may not have technically started this project during our April KAL
but I did finish during April and since it fits the lace theme so
well I thought I would share.

I finished my Wool Leaves
for my parents just in time for Easter . It came off the
needles all lumpy and bumpy but with the magic of blocking the lace
opened up and it was transformed into a soft, squishy delight.

I used 4 skeins of Cascade Eco Wool in shade 8020. I was after a larger
throw for the lounge so cast on 121 stitches (11 repeats wide) and
the 4 skeins gave me 11 full repeats of the pattern.

The finished blanket is approximately 44inches wide by 65inches long and
is just the right size to snuggle under.

Wool Leaves is having a little visit in store this weekend before it heads back home
to my parents.

Don’t forget to email in
your finished lace projects photos to go in the draw and win your
purchase price of yarn back as a gift voucher.

Entries close
at midnight 2nd May 2011 and the winner will be announced in our
newsletter on 6th May 2011.

to the amount of $50, yarn must be purchased from Tangled Yarns

super popular Cascade 220 and of course Cascade Eco.

We have a back order of Cascade Eco due to leave next week and with my Wool
Leaves generating so much interest in store I thought I would offer
pre-orders* on all Cascade Eco and Eco+ for those of you that may
like a blanket of your own.

*Eco and Eco+ pre-orders require
a minimum of two skeins. Orders must be in by Wednesday 4

May Cable Knit A Long

When the weather cools I immediately think of cables! This month our Knit
A Long focuses on cables, a knitting technique that gives the
illusion of being far more difficult than it really is.

The added texture cables give can transform a project. I have so many
cabled hats in my winter wardrobe….almost one for every day of the
