Friday Favourites

How wonderful have the cooler evenings and mornings been this week!!

I have been enjoying snuggling up on the lounge of an evening with some of
my larger projects that had been sadly neglected in the heat.

With winter approaching I have been pulling out my warmer knits and giving
them all a little freshen up with some SOAK.

I love how my garments come up like new after a little TLC and SOAK – plus now
they all smell divine again.

Why not stop and smell the roses
this weekend with some SOAK minis.

Biggan Design Workshops

I must say it has been an absolute pleasure having Biggan Dups in store weekly over the past two months.

We have our last Colourwork Workshop this weekend and this years very last workshop
with Biggan next Saturday (Finishing Techniques).

There is one place available in each of the workshops, don’t miss the
opportunity to spend some very valuable time with the inspirational and
talented Biggan Dups!

Colourwork Workshop

Date: Saturday 9th & Sunday 10thApril
Time: Saturday 10:00am – 2:00pm, Sunday 10:00am – 1:00pm
Cost: $150 for the two day workshop which includes a light lunch

Over the two days, you will learn how to do stranded colourwork while creating a hat.

Participants are to purchase the Beaumont Tam
pattern direct from Jared Flood on Ravelry prior to the workshop. We also ask
that before commencing the workshop you purchase the yarn from us and that you
have cast on and completed the ribbed brim of the hat.

This is so Biggan is able to focus the workshop time on teaching you colourwork.

Finishing Workshop

Date: Saturday 16th April
10:00am – 1:00pm

During this workshop, you will learn a variety of
finishing techniques that will give your knitwear a more polished look.

Some of these techniques will include seaming without puckering , fastening in your
ends, joining in new yarn, changing colours for stripes within your knitting,
creating buttonholes, picking up stitches for necklines plus other techniques
to streamline your finishing of garments.

Tropical Rainbow Baby Blanket

I have been lucky enough to have access to the
extensive collection of Biggan Design sample pieces over the past few weeks. I
have been taken with the vibrant Tropical Rainbow Baby Blanket…sure to add
some sunshine to your day.

It is such a delight introducing expectant mums or grandmas to the modern baby blanket. No acrylic, pastel
baby colours here! Clear, bright, vivid colours and machine washable to ensure
it will be passed on to the next babe in the family.

Tropical Rainbow Blankets Kits will be available both in store and online from this weekend.

Our Clover Soft Touch Crochet Hooks have been flying
out the door again this month. If you are time poor and feeling the need for
some handmade happiness a spot of crochet might be just what you need. I find
that when I don’t have the time or the head space to concentrate on my knitting
projects I pick up a hook for some instant gratification.

We have restocked all of our Clover products from our Soft Touch Crochet
, Stitch Markers, Darning Needles, Row Counters and Point Protectors.

Easter Birdies

With Easter only a matter of weeks away I thought I’d
make a little something for my girls teachers to show my appreciation for the
amazing job they do.

I came across this adorable pattern a few weeks ago and menatlly filed
it as a gift idea and for a touch of WOW who could go past some Noro birdies!

Blanket KAL

This month sees the official end of our Blanket Knit A Long although I am
sure it will not be the last of the blankets!

I have been making the most of the cooler weather and have been working on my
knitted blankets.

My Wool Leaves is a third of the way there, I
can’t wait until I can take it off the needles, soak and block it
to open up the leaves to their full glory!

April Lace KAL

Last week we launched our April Knit A Long with the theme of Lace!

We have seen a great variety of lace projects from the ultimate fine lace
shawls to chunky lace sweaters and throws.

A few lace patterns that have caught my eye this week –

by Pam Powers

Mustard Scarf
by Jane Richmond

Green is the New Black
by Tesia Walker

by Sandi Rosner

My favourite part of lace is when you take a
so so looking project, just off the needles and block it….there is
always that WOW moment.

My Umaro is moving along nicely, the Woolganics HHH is seriously the most divine,
squishy yarn. I think it is going to look breathtaking on my lounge…

Don’t forget to share your projects with us on our Ravelry Group and
email in your finished project photo to go in the draw and
win your purchase price of yarn back as a gift voucher.

Entries close at midnight 2nd May 2011 and the winner will be
announced in our newsletter on 6th May 2011.

to the amount of $50, yarn must be purchased from Tangled Yarns
during April.

It appears the knitted accessory is ‘in’
this year…something we all already knew right?!

It is great to see the May issue of Better Homes and Gardens full of knitting –
cushions, rugs and throws.

Many of the projects are simple
enough for the beginner yet interesting enough to keep the more
advanced knitter interested.

The patterns range from DK (8ply)
to Super Bulky (16ply), many of our yarns including Biggan Design DK,Cascade 220, Cascade Eco and Woolganics Head, Hands & Heart are all ideal.
Why not pick up your copy today and head in for some advice on yarn and
needles for some holiday knitting.

Wedding Day

Today is a very special day, our lovely Lauren’s Wedding Day!!

Many of you have shared in Lauren’s excitement as she planned for her big day and fabulous New York
honeymoon (New York honeymoon = extra knits!)

I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the stunning wedding dress…

Lauren & Tam,

May today be the start of beautiful tomorrows,
where each new day your hearts grow a little closer,
your lives a little fuller and your love a little deeper.

Much Love

Social Groups

To tempt your taste buds in store this week we have some decadent Peach Crumble
Muffins and our famous Choc Mint Slice.

spending some time in the store socially is a wonderful way to meet
other local crafters.

The knitting and crochet bug has certainly bitten and our classes are booking out quickly. We are part
way through our Thursday evening Learn To Crochet series which will
be followed by our Learn to Knit series.
