Friday Favourites

As many of you know, I have a special place in my heart for buttons…I’m
sure it’s genetic as my mum seems to have the same weakness and my
grandmother has a healthy button collection!

One of my favourite parts planning a project is selecting just the right buttons.

This week, I cast on a new project and it just happened to involve a
single button fastening. There were several buttons that caught my
eye but this simple crimson shell seems to work best.

I’m sure there are a few other button fanatics out there as well –
why not pick that perfect button to go with your next project
with our Friday Favourite this week or perhaps start or enhance your own
button collection.

Stitches on needles and yarn on hooks

Bright cotton colours and new pattern books

Tangled Yarns bundles tied up with strings

These are a few of my favourite things!

Friday Favourite Conditions – No holds or lay-by. 10% Off does not apply to
kits as they are already reduced. Special prices apply from launch of newsletter until 9am Monday.

TY Second Anniversary

Our second birthday zoomed past us last week!

I was surprised and spoilt by a few wonderful friends that couldn’t help but to do
something special to help me celebrate.

Suze made this beautiful Tangled Yarns bunting in true TY colours – green
and gray with a touch of orange (Biggan Design DK). She even learnt a
new skill for this – the lovingly stitched embroidery to spell out Tangled Yarns.

Derrin outdid herself this time – crocheting a gorgeous throw for me out
of the Silk Garden Sock. She had been working non-stop on this at our
Saturday social group over the past few weeks and was elusive about who it was for when I enquired!

I must say I was very surprised when she gave it to me on Saturday!

Their amazing support and kindness brought tears to my eyes but it was a great way to start my Saturday.

Workshops with Biggan Dups

We had the first of our workshops with Biggan Dups of Biggan Design earlier this week.

A very informative three hour Finishing Workshop where our students learnt
tips and techniques on casting on and casting off, picking up
stitches, seaming and much more.

Several of the students were so inspired by Biggan’s knowledge that they booked in for her
Continental Workshop on Tuesday 29th

We have a few places left in the Colourwork workshop on either the 25th & 26th
of March (next weekend!) and the 9th
and 10th of April.

To book your place call the store on 3666 0276 or
email tangled@tangledyarns.com.au

Colourwork KAL

I’ve been working on another colourwork project this week – the stunning Spring Roses in Vienna by Kamilla. This pattern has been tempting me for a months now so when Biggan dropped our latest delivery of yarn off on Monday
I couldn’t help selecting some colours and casting on.

If you’re not quite up to colourwork on double pointed needles, the Beaumont
Tam by Jared Flood
(the pattern we are using for the Workshop with Biggan) is worked on circular needles – one less thing to
worry about when you’re learning a new skill!

Some other beautiful stranded colourwork projects that might tempt you

Swedish Fish by SpillyJane – Lauren has
plans for some bright orange and turquoise fish

Circles and Squares by Marianne Glørstad

Neep Heid by Kate Davies

Banderilla by Susan Mills

Something Floral by Miranda Grant

Our Colourwork KAL will be drawing to a close soon – have you entries in by the 31st
March to go into the draw to win your purchase price of yarn back as
a gift voucher (up to the amount of $50)*.

*yarn must be purchased from Tangled Yarns during March.

Blanket KAL & Classes

We’re at the halfway point for our Blanket along and we’ve seen some beautiful blankets so far!

Our Berroco Knit and Crochet Blanket book has been flying out the door and so
many people have been inspired by the fabulous patterns within the book.

I’ve also had many people coming along to my one hour blanket techniques
session every second Saturday. Several are working on Attic
24’s How-To Hexagon
and I’ve been sharing some tips and
tricks for how to get the most out of the pattern.

Saturday 26th
March 1-2pm $15

Bookings are essential – please phone the store on 07 3666 0276

After a very busy few weeks with lots of people stocking up on notions, we
have had to restock our Clover range!

From their beautiful ergonomic crochet hooks to the very popular locking stitch markers,
there is something to fill that hole in your crafting accessories.

I love to use the locking stitch markers to hold my crochet
squares together as I am joining them.

Also arriving this week was new stock of our favourite wool wash, SOAK!

I recently pulled out my Garter Yoke Cardigan from last winter and
realised that it needed freshening up after being stored during summer.

SOAK is ideal as it is gentle on your woollens and delicates plus leaving a lovely scent afterwards.
Its rinse-free formula means that you’re not going to stretch your garments by
running it through the water twice.

Jo Sharp Summer Collection

Our final summer delivery of the beautiful Jo Sharp Cotton range arrived this week.

Just in time for one last lightweight project before we
begin our cooler months – this yarn has a gorgeous colour range and is great to work with.

There have been many eager knitters coming in store and purchasing supplies
for patterns from the new Better Homes and Gardens knitting

One of the most popular patterns has been the Noro Shawl, to the point that
we have been almost completely cleared out of Noro!

We were expecting an order from our supplier this week but
unfortunately their shipment was delayed and has only arrived in
Australia late this week.

We are expecting our order to arrive mid to late next week, if you are keen
to cast on please contact us in store on 3666 0276 or email tangled@tangledyarns.com.au

Easter Bowl Pattern

With Easter only a few weeks away, I’ve started to think about a gift
for my two little girls.

As they both girls have food allergies, we don’t do chocolate at Easter but I thought it
would be nice for them to still have some eggs!

What better to store eggs than a lovely felted bowl! I have written the pattern up to share with you, done in either double stranded
worsted weight or super bulky weight for two different sizes.

These work up very quickly – you could knit it one night and felt it the

We have a fabulous super bulky weight coming in in the next few weeks, so
keep an eye out on our newsletter for our new season yarns.

Inspiring your passion!
