Friday Favourites

It feels far from summer here in Brisbane at the moment! We have had almost continuous rain for what feels like months. Ideal weather for curling up on the lounge, knitting in hand.

Wet and cooler weather aside I have been enjoying working with cotton. To brighten my day and add a little colour to an otherwise grey day I have been playing with some of the newly arrived colours of Jo Sharp SoHo Cotton.

Why not add a splash of colour to your weekend and enjoy our SoHo Cotton while it is our Friday Favourite.

Stitches on needles and yarn on hooks
Bright cotton colours and new pattern books
Tangled Yarns bundles tied up with strings
These are a few of my favourite things!

Friday Favourite Conditions – Applies to in stock items only. No custom orders or lay-by. 10% Off does not apply to kits as they are already reduced. Special prices apply from launch of newsletter until 9am Monday.

Jo Sharp Cottons

My mind started racing the moment I opened our latest shipment of Jo Sharp and saw a feast of summery colours. We have new stock of all currently available colours of Jo Sharp Cotton both the Soho (DK) and Desert Garden (Aran).

There is still plenty of time left this summer to add a sweet cotton knit to your wardrobe.

A few pattern ideas to inspire…

CeCe by Bonne Marie Burns

Petrie by Beautia Dew

Nantucket Red by Thea Colman

Olearia by Georgie Hallam

Provence Summer String Bag by Kathy North

Cute Summer Top by Anna & Heidi Pickles

There have been some changes recently in the supply of Jo Sharp yarns. The majority of her yarns are now being shipped on a monthly basis directly from Italy. This means that it can take a little longer for us to turn around custom orders. We plan to continue to stock the Jo Sharp range and offer custom orders, however we will be placing one large order in the middle of the month instead of several smaller orders throughout the month.

If you are starting to plan your winter knits and have a Jo Sharp yarn in mind that we don’t currently have in stock please contact us and we will advise on an estimated time of arrival.

Ysolda Teague

After being snowed in for several weeks in Scotland our delivery of one of my favourite designers, Ysolda Teague’s books, have finally arrived!

No knitting library is complete without a copy of Ysolda’s books.

Toys and accessories for you and your home, all featuring Ysolda’s signature style and attention to detail. Every design would make a perfect gift, or a lovely little treat for yourself.

Whimsical Little Knits 2

Whimsical Little Knits 2 is the second in a series by Ysolda containing 12 gorgeous patterns. Little things that are fun to knit, use only a small amount of yarn and don’t take long to complete. You’ll find beautiful accessories to keep you and everyone on your gift list warm along with toys and fun things to add a little whimsy to your home.

Little Red in the City
I am excited to announce that Ysolda has a third book in the works!

From innovative designer Ysolda Teague comes Little Red in the City. Months, or in the case of one sweater, years, in the making it’s now almost here. Part pattern collection, part resource book Ysolda shares all of her tips for creating successful sweaters that perfectly fit your body.

The completed book is scheduled for release in March 2011 and we already have our pre-order in. If you are interested in adding a copy of Little Red to your collection please contact us to reserve your copy.

Back in stock a third time after selling out repeatedly is the annual issue of Interweave Knits, Holiday Gifts.

This is not only great for seasonal knitting but also ideal for all of your gift knitting needs throughout the year.

New Year’s Resolutions

I have certainly enjoyed reading everyone’s New Year’s resolutions for 2011. We’ve even had a great thread going on in our Ravelry group with everyone’s plans and what is on our “must knit” lists for the coming year.

There is one more week to send in what you’re aiming for this year and to go into the draw to win a $25.00 gift voucher.

Email us at tangled@tangledyarns.com.au by next Thursday to win!

Friday Dyeday

With things being so busy both in store and on the home front over the festive season I haven’t had a great deal of time to get the dyepots out. I did however manage to sneak in one dye session with some sumptuous 50/50 silk/merino.

This yarn would make a luxurious scarf like Clapotis or Just Enough Reffles, perhaps a Darkside Cowl or Spiral Cowl or even a little shrug like Shetland Shorty.

With the silly season over and a new year beginning it seems like a good time to focus on finishing some projects and clearing the decks for some new cast ons.

I know that I am busy trying to finish a few things that have looming deadlines! I am also dedicating some time to seriously reviewing my current projects, I plan to be harsh with myself ‘If you don’t love it, rip it!’.

We will resume our super popular Tangled Yarns Knit A Longs for a second year with some exciting new plans and projects in February!!

Inspiring your passion!
