Friday Favourites

Sometimes you just need things to be simple; this is where our kits shine.

We often put together a variety of wonderful patterns and stunning yarns all ready to cast on. No thinking involved…the biggest decision that you need to make is which one to start with!

I love a good kit and there is nothing I enjoy more than matching just the right yarn with the right pattern, especially when I don’t have a great deal of time to actually pick up the needles myself.

To share my love of kits we have a selection of kits featured as the Friday Favourite this weekend. If you were looking for a new project to inspire this might just be the solution.

Grab yourself a bargain while our already reduced kit prices are an additional 5% off!! This works out to be an amazing saving of up to 15-25% off the retail price.

Stitches on needles and yarn on hooks
Bright woollen colours and new pattern books
Tangled Yarns bundles tied up with strings
These are a few of my favourite things!

Some of my favourite kits are –

Colourwork Workshop

Last weekend was our first Colourwork Workshop and what a blast!

A group of keen knitters gathered to knit, chat and challenge themselves with several new techniques.

Biggan Dups helped everyone overcome their fears of colourwork; I was amazed to see the transformation of the cowls by the second day.

It was such a busy weekend that I didn’t manage to get my camera out but luckily the lovely Kylie remembered hers.

Here are a few snaps from the workshop.

We have one final Colourwork Workshop before Biggan returns to the UK. If you have ever been tempted by Fair Isle this is an opportunity not to be missed.

Join us on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of June. Places are limited
(and filling fast!). Please call the shop on 3666 0276 or email tangled@tangledyarns.com.au
to book you place now.

Eco Baby Promotion

I have loved seeing the different projects popping up this month in the Debbie Bliss Eco Baby!

Don’t forget that our Eco Baby Promotion comes to an end in a little over a week; all entries are to be emailed to tangled@tangledyarns.com.au by midnight 31st May 2010.

Imagine all of the projects that you could create with an entire bag of Eco Baby!! The lucky winners will be announced in our Friday Newsletter 4th June.

Eden & Watermellish

Only a week late but I cast off my little newborn Eden this week. I really can’t say enough about how fabulous Tikki’s patterns are. The attention to detail in her patterns and the ingenious way she designs makes the whole process streamlined. And of course I LOVE the fact there is little to no finishing.

Eden in particular has been designed as a blank canvas ready for embellishing.

A new designer that has caught my eye in recent weeks is Tanja of Watermellish. Tanja has taken the traditional duplicate stitch and given it a modern spin.

I thought her little star embellishment would be ideal for my Eden. I’m not quite finished, a few more stitches to go on the star and then the chain stitch edging to do.

I’m thinking a tiny little newborn hat with in the yellow to complete the set. If you have ever wanted to try your hand at a little embellishing I would highly recommend the designs and charts available on Watermellish. Check out the new designs due to be released this weekend! I get the feeling that my two girls will fall in love with both Sky and Gnome House…

May KAL

We are still receiving sign ups to our May KAL, Rosamunds Cardigan! This is such a great knit and with the heavier weight yarn and larger needles, reasonably quick so there is still time to join in the fun.

My poor project has been a little neglected this week but with Autumn truly setting in this week I think it needs a little attention this weekend.

Our Cascade Eco has been so popular this month that our stocks are low, another order is due in about two weeks time.
All May KAL entries are to be emailed in by midnight 31st May 2010. The lucky winners will be announced in our Friday Newsletter 4th June, along with our next exciting Knit A Long…

Classes

Have you been finding beautiful crochet patterns but don’t know how to crochet? Remember learning as a child, but have trouble recalling the basics? Get confused by the difference between US and UK crochet terminology? We can help with this! I have caved once again and started a new project this week. I picked up the hook and some bright, happy colours, I’m not sure if this will become a cushion or a blanket yet…
